Copenhagen: A conflict between Denmark’s international footballers and the country’s football association Danish Football Association (DBU) due to a dispute over commercial rights has left the team without players for upcoming matches.
In order to prevent similar incident from occurring within players at Badminton Association of Denmark, the association has decided to terminate all existing contracts with its players on November of 2018. All current contracts were based on sponsorship deal signed in 2013.
If the badminton governing body of Denmark did not re-negotiate the new contract with its players in a timely manner, or its players’ personal commercial deals continued to have competing interest with the Denmark badminton team sponsors, players such as World No. 1 men’s singles player Viktor Axelsen, World No. 5 men’s doubles pair Mathias Boe, Carsten Mogensen could potentially be dropped from the Denmark national team.
In 2015, Denmark’s top men’s doubles pair of Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen, women’s doubles pairing of Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen, as well as Pedersen’s mixed doubles partner, Joachim Fischer-Nielsen were dismissed from the country’s national team due to the so-called ‘cookies war’ sponsorship conflict.
