Kuala Lumpur: Former World No. 1 Wong Choong Hann who was originally scheduled to join Badminton Association Malaysia (BAM) as its new coaching director on Jan 1, 2019, has decided to kick off his new position on November 15, wasting no time getting to work in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
President of BAM Mohamad Norza Zakaria also acknowledged that Wong will officially join BAM on Thursday, November 15.
“We appreciate Choong Hann’s commitment and we are extremely happy to have him onboard on November 15th,” said Zakaria.
“After the departure of Morten Frost, we’ve made some structural changes to our coaching staff, and things have stabilized and slowly getting into the right shape,” added Zakaria.
Zakaria further illustrated his strong confident on Wong Choong Hann’s leadership.
“We have huge challenges ahead of us, Choong Hann will be tasked to build a strong and comprehensive roadmap for BAM by combining all the pieces together.”
