Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s World No. 6 mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying will look to end their miserable year by making a mark at the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals in Guangzhou, China next month.

The 2016 Olympic mixed doubles silver medalist have been struggling with consistency when they were sent packing by Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti of Indonesia in the second round of the China Open before ousted by Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock of England in the Hong Kong Open first round last week.

However, Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying who have already confirmed a place in Guangzhou, refused to be haunted by their past failures.

On the other hand, they wanted to make sure they are able to do well at the final tournament of the 2018 BWF World Tour.

“Of course, we were disappointed with early exits in our last two tournaments, especially losing in the first round of Hong Kong Open,” said Goh.

“There’s not much I can say about our failures; it’s proved that we’re still not good enough. Hopefully, we can get back to our real game,” added Goh.

Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying confirmed a place to Guangzhou after finishing fourth in the Race to Guangzhou rankings as of November 22. The Race to Guangzhou rankings period will officially ends on December 3, 2018.

This is the third time Chan/Goh have qualified for the BWF World Finals competition, which offering a total prize money of US $ 1.5 million.

They played in the 2012 BWF World Finals in Shenzhen but lost in the group stage. However, they were able to advance to the semi-finals of the 2013 edition in Kuala Lumpur.
