Mumbai: India’s former World No. 1 and current World No. 8 has struck a four-year endorsement deal that worth USD $5 million with badminton equipment manufacturer Li-Ning on Monday.
The deal, which included regular sponsorship and equipment supply, will run through 2023.
“I am honored to be the face of Li Ning in India and globally. I love their products and I’m really looking forward to stepping on the court with a renewed vigor to accomplish few more goals that I have set for myself & keep bring laurels for my country,” said Srikanth in a statement published by Indian media.
Srikanth has signed with Li-Ning from 2014 to 2015. But in the past three years, he was sponsored by another badminton equipment manufacturer – Yonex.
Li-Ning is the official equipment sponsor for the China, Indonesia, Singapore, and Australian national badminton team. Some of the high profile players that were endorsed by Li-Ning included Chan Peng Soon, Goh Liu Ying of Malaysia, Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia, Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir. Of course, except Lin Dan, all players from China national team were under the sponsorship of Li-Ning.
