Kuala Lumpur: While around the world, daily life for many has come to a near-halt as more governments have imposed “stay-at-home” orders, in their efforts to stem the spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19.

However, doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, police officials, and solders were the courageous heroes in testing times like these as they knowingly putting themselves at risk to save lives.

The Malaysian badminton legend, Lee Chong Wei took to social media to applaud these frontline heroes because they were the ones who faced the maximum risk of contracting the disease but whose efforts have been unrelenting in keeping the virus in the bay.

“Last night I asked Kingston, what is his ambition when he grows up? He said “ Doctor, papa. Because I want to save a lot a lot of people”. I smiled. Little he knew that his old man also once had the same ambitions. After all, an ambition it remains as I realized I’m more talented holding a racket rather than a stethoscope. My face in a doctor’s coat, see also I faint.

Nevertheless, many of my friends are doctors, nurses and medical assistants. Many of them are feeling the strain now. One of my best friends is a radiologist in Penang. When I asked him to take care, he told me he just wanted to win this war for Malaysia, for his family and for his daughter who he hasn’t hugged for nights. Another cardiologist friend told me despite saving lives after lives, his everyday prayers is to make sure he doesn’t carry this virus home to his cute one year old son.

For all doctors, nurses, medical assistants, police and army forces, you guys are the true heroes in life.

Don’t give up, because once you give up, everything falls.
Don’t give up, continue to be the inspiration for my children’s generation.

I hope the ones in power will prioritize their safety and fully support them for their needs. And I hope the ones not in power like us, just stay at home, be transparent if you are sick, and continue educating people around you .

This virus can be beaten. But we need to work together. Doctors and nurses will save lives, police and army will ensure system in order, you and I will ensure virus chain is broken by staying at home .

This virus is blind, attacking ppl of all age, gender, races and political parties. Malaysians can learn from covid on this.

By the way, air suam maybe good for health, but not helping in combatting virus. ”

At the end of his statement, Lee also took an indirect swipe at Malaysia’s Health Minister who made a reckless and irresponsible statements on COVID-19 last Thursday when he said people could drink warm water to “flush” virus down to the stomach, and let digestive acids kill the virus.
