2020 Lingshui China Masters canceled amid coronavirus concerns

Beijing: The Chinese Badminton Association (CBA) announced on July 1, 2020, that it has canceled the 2020 Lingshui China Masters, a Super 100 tournament of the 2020 BWF World Tour calendar.

The announcement from CBA stated that:

“In light of the current coronavirus pandemic in China, and to be responsible for the health of all participating athletes, coaches, staff and spectators, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the Chinese Badminton Association have decided to cancel the 2020 Lingshui China Masters what was originally scheduled to be held in Lingshui, from August 25-30.”

With the cancellation of Lingshui China Masters and another Super 100 event – the 2020 Hyderabad Open (August 11-16), the 2020 Chinese Taipei Open (September 1-6) could be the first international tournament to restart the 2020 season after a lengthy shutdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
