Flandy Limpele/Eng Hian of Indonesia

WHAT?? A lot of you may be thinking we must be out of our mind by not choosing the Tokyo Olympics men’s doubles gold medalists Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin for this category. But hang on, as mentioned above, this is a list of light-hearted and funny topics, and please look at our explanation below.

Flandy Limpele/Eng Hian of Indonesia won the men’s doubles bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Limpele is currently the men’s doubles head coach for the Malaysian team, while Eng Hian is the women’s doubles head coach for the Indonesian women’s doubles division.

At the 2020 Games, Limpele has guided Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysian to win bronze in the men’s doubles event, while Eng Hian coached Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu to win Indonesia’s first Olympic gold in the women’s doubles event.

In total, Limpele/Eng Hian have won 2 Olympic bronze medals and 1 Olympic gold medal (won 1 bronze and 1 gold as a coach) in a span of 17 years :-). That’s why we chose them as the most successful men’s doubles pair at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Doubles specialist – Gronya Summerville of Australia posted four predictions of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics including the women’s singles semi-final matches, the men’s doubles bronze medal playoff, and the men’s doubles gold medal match on her Instagram stories last week. Remarkably, she achieved either “100% accurate” or “100% inaccurate” in her predictions, depends on how you look at it.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, Chen Yu Fei defeated He Bingjiao 21-16, 13-21, 21-12, while Tai Tzu Ying beat PV Sindhu 21-18, 21-12.

In the men’s doubles bronze medal playoff, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia beat Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan of Indonesia 17-21, 21-17, 21-14, while Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin beat Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen 21-18, 21-12 to win gold.

The Sexiest Male Badminton Players:

Most Popular Boy Band:

Chan Peng Soon, Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia, and Soh Wooi Yik

Korea’s BTS, a.k.a “Bangtan Boys”, are currently the world’s most successful boy band.

In badminton, we also have our own BTS, a.k.a “Badminton Boys”.

Chan Peng Soon, Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia, and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia showed huge potential to be the next top boy band of the world by posting really cool pictures of them at the Tokyo Olympics athletes’ village. Wish them a successful career in the entertainment industry.

The Best English Speaking Player:

Chen Qingchen

Chen Qingchen of China was heard yelling “Watch Out” during several of her matches. Depends on which language she was speaking on the court at that time, if she was speaking in Chinese, that could be profanity. But if she was speaking in English, she was probably trying to warn her opponents to “watch out” for her smashes.

The Badminton Korea Association said it will lodge an official protest to the Badminton World Federation over Chen’s conduct on the court.

BWF has clearly stated in its code of conduct as below:

BWF Statutes, Section 2.2.4:
CODE OF CONDUCT: PLAYERS
3.2.9. Not using words commonly known and understood in any language to be profane or indecent and uttered clearly and loudly enough to be heard by the umpire or spectators.

Hope BWF will not strip the women’s doubles Tokyo Olympics silver medal won by Chen and her partner Jia Yifan.

The Best Dance:
