Leuven: Malaysia’s World No. 74 men’s singles player, Ng Tze Yong produced a brilliant display in the final of 2021 Belgian International on Saturday, needing only 33 minutes to beat India’s World No. 63 Ajay Jayaram 21-14, 21-14.

This was Ng’s second international title of the year, after winning the 2021 Polish Open on March 28.

“It was a difficult day for me, playing five matches in three days, its kind of tiring,” said Jayaram after the match.

“I didn’t play at the pace I wanted to, and Ng was tricky on his shots and that made me struggle during the game,” added Jayaram.

Meanwhile, Ng was in high spirit after winning the Belgian International title.

“I am very happy that I regained my confidence after suffering a tough loss in the Czech Open final last week,” said Ng.

In men’s doubles, No. 1 seeds Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana of Indonesia couldn’t carry their momentum of beating World No. 1 Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the second round of Denmark Open Thursday, losing to compatriots and No. 2 seeds Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan in 18-21, 20-22 in the final.

The Japanese team took home three titles at the Belgian International on Saturday through Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito in mixed doubles and Rin Iwanaga/Kie Nakanishi in women’s doubles and Riko Gunji in the women’s singles categories.
