Singapore: Many Singapore fans drove past the bus or squeezed into the streets to catch a glimpse of the reigning badminton world champion – Loh Kean Yew, Singapore’s two-time Tokyo Paralympic swimming gold medalist – Yip Pin Xiu, the bowler who clinched the women’s singles gold medal at the International Bowling Federation (IBF) Super World Championships in Dubai on November 12 – Shayna Ng, and Aloysius Yapp who became the first Singaporean to reach world No.1 status in the World Pool-Billiard Association rankings on October 25.
The athletes were in high spirits and were waving to fans at the open-top bus parade on Sunday.

“Very honoured to join this celebration. This is my first time going on a bus tour without a rooftop,” said Loh after the parade.
“I am very thankful, and I think all of us did our best in the competition,” added Loh.
“There will be few major games in 2022, such as SEA Games, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games. I just hope to take one step at a time and one match at a time, always give my 100% or even more,” continued Loh.
Loh later took to his social media accounts to thank all the fans for their support with the following message:
“Honoured to join my fellow Team Singapore 🇸🇬teammates @yippinxiu , @shayng and @aloysiusyapp – three outstanding athletes with very impressive credentials in today’s celebrations. A big 👋 to all who came out to say hi!
A shout-out to the parade organisers, we appreciate you working over the Christmas holidays to put this together for us. 🙏🏽☺️
Rain or shine, thank you all for being here for us. Thank you, Singapore! 🇸🇬”
