Orleans: Yap Roy King/Teoh Mei Xing played brilliantly in the 2022 Orleans Masters quarter-finals on Friday, as they routed No. 7 seeds Ishaan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto of India 21-7, 21-13 to make the semi-finals.
Yap/Teoh will play World No. 49 Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati of Indonesia on Saturday.
In the men’s doubles competition, Yap Roy King and his partner Chang Yee Jun, unfortunately, couldn’t repeat their level of play on Thursday where they upset No. 4 seeds Fabien Delrue/William Villeger of France 21-15, 21-15 in the second round.
After dropping the first game in the quarter-final match, Yap/Chang put up a strong fight in the second set but as the contest wore on, they were no match for their No. 7 seeds opponents – Ruben Jille/Ties Van Der Lecq of Netherlands to ultimately lost to the Dutch pair 17-21, 21-18, 18-21.
Fortunately, another Malaysian men’s pair – World No. 103 Junaidi Arif/Muhammad Haikal shrugged off dropping the second set against Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar of France on Friday before hitting back to win 21-13, 12-21, 21-15 and reach the final four of the Orleans Masters.
Arif/Haikal will battle World No. 72 Eloi Adam/Julien Maio of France for a ticket to the final.
