Calgary: Li Shifeng, the reigning All England men’s singles champion from China, has secured his place in the final of the Canada Open. He will face off against Lakshya Sen, India’s World No. 19, in what promises to be an exciting battle for the championship title.

Li Shifeng emerged as the sole survivor from the Chinese team in the semi-finals of the Canada Open, showcasing his exceptional skills. He dominated the match against Japan’s World No. 3, Kodai Naraoka, with an impressive score of 21-8, 21-11, securing his spot in the final.

In the women’s singles category, top-seeded Japanese player Akane Yamaguchi continued her remarkable performance by defeating India’s PV Sindhu, ranked 15th in the world, in the semi-finals. Yamaguchi secured her place in the final with a convincing score of 21-14, 21-15. She will face Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon, the 2013 World Champion, who received a walkover in the semi-finals due to Zhang Beiwen of the United States withdrawing.

The Japanese and Danish teams emerged as the major winners of the tournament, securing spots in the women’s doubles, men’s doubles championships, and the mixed doubles final. In a thrilling women’s doubles semi-final, Japan’s top seeds Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida narrowly defeated their compatriots Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota, the third seeds, with a score of 13-21, 21-15, 27-25. They will face another Japanese pair, Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara, in the final. Matsumoto and Nagahara defeated Thailand’s Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai with a score of 21-16, 21-18.

In the men’s doubles semi-final, China’s Li Yang and Wang Qilin, the Tokyo Olympic champions, suffered defeat at the hands of Denmark’s third-seeded pair, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, with a score of 15-21, 14-21. The mixed doubles final will witness Japan’s fifth-seeded pair, Hiroki Midorikawa, and Natsu Saito, facing Denmark’s seventh-seeded pair, Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund.
