KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — Malaysian badminton superstar Datuk Lee Chong Wei breezed into the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open badminton championship after defeating Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark 21-18, 21-17 in the quarter-finals at the Hong Kong Coliseum today.
Chong Wei (picture) will be meeting Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the last four after the latter overcame Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark in 21-17, 21-16 in another quarter-final match, according to the Badminton World Federation’s official website http://bwfbadminton.org/.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying crashed out of the quarter-finals when they lost to the English pair of Chris Adcock/Gabrielle White in 18-21 and 12-21.
