Singapore are currently ranked 11th out of the 16 teams that qualified for the 2014 edition, which will be staged in New Delhi, India, from May 18-25.

SINGAPORE: Singapore has qualified for the Uber Cup for only the second time in the tournament history.

Singapore last qualified for the badminton tournament in 2006.Singapore's Yao Lei (L) and Shinta Mulia Sari during the badminton women's doubles quarter final round at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar on 12 Dec 2013.

The event also serves as the World Team Championships for women.

Qualification for the competition is based on total ranking points of the three highest-ranked singles players and top two doubles players from each country.

Singapore are currently ranked 11th out of the 16 teams that qualified for the 2014 edition, which will be staged in New Delhi, India, from May 18-25.

The Singapore Badminton Federation has until May 4 to finalise its entries.

Players likely to represent Singapore are the women's doubles pair of Shinta Mulia Sari and Yao Lei and top singles player Gu Juan.

The upcoming OUE Singapore Open 2014 in April is expected to serve as a tune-up for Singapore players ahead of the Uber Cup.
