India ready for Thomas and Uber cup

Indian’s Thomas Cup and Uber Cup badminton team will undergo a boot camp at the Siri Fort Sports Complex starting May 7 under the guidance of chief national coach Pullela Gopichand. A 30-member core team will prepare for Saina Nehwal (left), and Gopichand (center) and P Kashyap will form a solid Uber-Thomas Cup team.the upcoming team championships, out of which 10 men and 10 women shuttlers will be selected to play for India later in the week.

“We know it will be tough against higher ranked teams in the Thomas Cup but I can promise you that the India teams would give their best in every match to show the world we are an un-neglectable power in badminton. ” said Gopichand the former All England champion.

In the Thomas Cup, India is drawn in Group C with Malaysia, Germany and South Korea. In the Uber Cup, India’s women will face Thailand, Canada and Hong Kong in Group C for the Uber Cup.

Thomas Cup Team: K. Srikanth, P. Kashyap, R.M.V. Guru Sai Dutt, H.S. Prannoy, Anand Pawar, Arvind Bhat, Saurabh Verma, B. Sai Praneeth, Anup Sridhar, Akshay Dewalkar, Pranaav Jerry Chopra, B. Sumeeth Reddy, Manu Atri, Arun Vishnu and Alwyn Francis.

Uber Cup Team: Saina Nehwal, P.V. Sindhu, Arundhati Pantawane, P.C. Thulasi, Rituparna Das, Sayali Gokhale, Tanvi Lad, Saili Rane, Jwala Gutta, Ashwini Ponnappa, N. Sikki Reddy, Pradnya Gadre, Prajakta Sawant, Aarti Sara Sunil and Aparna Balan.
