Puchong United BC 12, Klang United BC 12

It was a surprise to see Tommy Sugiarto appeared in the Puchong United BC line-up on Sunday morning, as he had to compete for team Indonesia at the Axiata Cup final in the afternoon. Nonetheless, Puah Chen Hao of Klang United BC provided little resistance and bowed out to Sugiarto 2-11,4-11,1-11 just 18 minutes.

However, Puchong United were held to a 12-12 draw by Klang United BC due to superb performances from other Klang United’s shuttlers such as Chooi Kah Ming/Lee Meng Yean when they knocked off Tan Aik Quan/Woon Khe Wei in the mixed doubles match, and Derek Wong defeated Daren Liew 3-11, 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-3 in the second men’s singles match.

Muar City BC 11, Serdang BC 9

Tan Kian Meng of Serdang BC took full advantage of a Muar City BC playing without former world number one Lee Hyun-il, to score 11-8,11-7,11-8 victory against Tan Chun Seang in 26 minutes in the first men’s singles match.

Unfortunately, Serdang BC lost the next three matches – women’s singles, first men’s doubles and mixed doubles before Soong Joo Ven (men’s singles) , and Lim Chi Wing/Tai An Khang (men’s doubles) won the last two matches for Serdang respectively.

Cheras BC 14, Petaling BC 11

The 2003 All England Champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim who spearheaded Cheras BC on Sunday, won a decisive match against Yeoh Seng Zoe winning 11-5, 11-5, 11-10 in 28 minutes. Cheras won the women’s singles match, but men’s doubles pair Koo Kien Keat/Zakry Abd Latif couldn’t keep Cheras’ momentum going by conceding to Rizky Hidayat Ismail/Shia Chun Kang 7-11, 11-8, 3-11, 8-11.

Despite the struggle, Serdang still came out as the winner.
