Kuala Lumpur: With Chen Long officially taking over as world number men’s singles player on Thursday, Lee Chong Wei who is still waiting for the BWF (Badminton World Federation) panel hearing date, couldn’t wait to return on court to start playing badminton.

The 32-year-old Lee had held the number one ranking for the last six years barring a few weeks when Chinese Olympic champion Lin Dan became the top-ranked player in 2012.Wish Lee Chong Wei and his family a Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year!

When asked by reporter yesterday, Lee said the ball is not in his hands.

“There is nothing I can do at this point,” said Chong Wei.

“It’s an unfortunate situation, it’s very tough, but I just have to learn how to deal with it,” added Chong Wei.

“Being No. 1 for the last six years was a special achievement and also an honour. It’s not easy to stay at the top for so long, it took a lot of hard work and commitment.”

“I hope this case can come to a close as soon as possible, so that I can get back on court and regain the world number 1 spot. For now, we just have to wait for BWF to inform us about the hearing date.”
