Kuala Lumpur: Muar City continued their hot streak by finishing 16-6 against Klang United BC on Sunday.
Women’s singles player Tai Tzu Ying of Muar City used only 16 minutes to roll past Yap Rui Chen 11-4, 11-7, 11-4 in the first match against Klang United BC.The Muar City BC Team Roster (Photo: Muar City's FB)

However, Tan Chun Seang who played the first men’s singles for Muar City appeared sluggish at times as he struggled to tame Singaporean Derek Wong Zi Liang by losing 8-11, 8-11, 11-5, 6-11.

In the first men’s doubles match, Chow Pak Chuu/Tan Wee Kiong of Muar City prevailed 9-11, 11-10, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, but not before withstanding every ounce of effort from a fierce Chooi Kah Ming/Teo Eei Yi pair.

Chan Peng Soon/Chow Mei Kuan solidified Muar City’s lead at 10-6 after they came from a set down to beat Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Lee Meng Yean 11-9, 11-10, 6-11, 11-7.

Ronald Susilo and Mak Hee Chun/Teo Kok Siang then fended off their opponents in the second men’s singles and second men’s doubles match respectively to give Muar City an unassailable 16-6 victory.

In what was a really entertaining tie against Serdang BC, Nusajaya BC may not have won the big first men’s singles and second men’s doubles battles, but they came out unscathed as they got a quality 15-11 victory over Serdang BC.

Although Ampang Jaya BC have Goh Giap Chin, Wong Wing Ki and Ng Hui Ern (isn’t she already retired from badminton?), but let’s give the Petaling Jaya BC credit — they withstood a spirited rally by the Ampang Jaya on Sunday, holding on for a 15-9 victory.
