Bali: With the addition of youngest world champion Ratchanok Intanon and Busanan Ongbumrungpan of Thailand to its lineup, Jaya Raya Jakarta women’s team beat Renesas Japan 3-1 to win their third Djarum Superliga title on Saturday.
The coach of the Jaya Raya Jakarta, Bambang Supriyanto was very proud of his players who had to battle past the Japanese team in the final.
“Thanks to the whole team, including the team manager Imelda Wiguna. Thanks also to Ratchanok Intanon and Busanan Ongbumrungpan, without them we may not be able to win the championships,” said Bambang Supriyanto.
Jaya Raya team manager also Imelda Wiguna felt thankful for that victory.
“Jaya Raya fully supports PBSI program. The Superliga event was organized with the intention that local players could get a chance to play against top players in the world. In addition, through this event, we are able to establish good relations with those foreign players who play in the league,” said Imelda.
Ratchanok Intanon got Jaya Raya Jakarta off to a perfect start with a 21-13, 21-13 win over Kana Ito in the first women’s singles match. Miyuki Maeda/Reika Kakiiwa of Renesas Japan then knocked off Pia Zebadiah Bernadet/Rizki Amelia Pradipta 21-18, 21-14 to level the score at 1-1.
“Our opponents were stronger but at least we played with our fighting spirit,” said Pia Zebadiah.
Jaya Raya Jakarta regained the lead following Busanan Ongbumrungpan’s 21-9, 21-11 victory over Renesas Japan’s Ayumi Mine. With a vintage performance, Greysia Polii/Anggia Shitta Awanda sealed third Superliga glory for Jaya Raya Jakarta by clinching the winning point for their team through their 21-19, 21-10 victory over Naoko Fukuman/Kurumi Yonao in 42 minutes.
“We have got used to being playing under pressure, we are proud to be part of the team,” said Greysia Polii after the match.
