Kuala Lumpur: While awaiting Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to complete their internal investigation before setting a firm hearing date with Badminton World Federation (BWF), Lee Chong Wei has not competed in any international tournament since the Asian Games that was held in Incheon, South Korea from September 19 – October 4, 2014.
There was an enormous amount of relief for his fans when BAM’s deputy president Dato Norza Zakaria announced last Saturday that they have completed their evidence collection and is now waiting for BWF to set the hearing date.
Lee Chong Wei who has dropped to world number three in the latest BWF rankings, gave his appreciation for the work done by BAM.
“I have not yet been informed of a firm hearing date yet. However, I have been keeping a regular training routine, try to stay in shape and to maintain my fitness,” said Chong Wei.
“BAM have been working very hard on this issue, especially Dato Norza and general manager Kenny Goh who have been staying in close touch with me to keep me updated about the progress of the internal investigation. Hopefully all this hard work will pay off,” added Chong Wei.
Meanwhile, Dato Norza said BAM and National Sports Institute (NSI) of Malaysia have prepared properly for the hearing.
“The hearing will most likely be held somewhere in March, we have gathered enough evidence necessary to present Chong Wei’s case, but the outcome would have to determined by BWF,” said Dato Norza.
Please sign petition below, and please help spread the word to convince BWF that we need Lee Chong Wei to continue playing, and Badminton needs Lee Chong Wei too, thanks!
