Copenhagen: In the latest development of the firing of Chris Pedersen, Kamilla Rytter Juhl, Joachim Fischer, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen from the Denmark national team due to conflicts in the sponsorship between these players and the Badminton Association of Denmark, further details were uncovered by reporter that Denmark’s coach, Lars Uhre also received monetary incentives from the new sponsor, biscuit manufacturer – Danisa, who has contributed to this conflict. Other coaches in the Denmark national team were also pocketed a nice little profit through the new deal.
Five players above were endorsed by Kjeldsens, the main rival of Danisa in the biscuit/cookies industry. After the Badminton Association of Denmark signed a new sponsorship deal with Danisa recently, the organization sold the national team’s jersey endorsement right to Danisa, and those five world class players that already have sponsorship deal with Kjeldsens were thrown off the national team due to the sponsorship conflicts.
It was revealed that Lars Uhre and assistant coach Jesper Larsen have received some percentage of commission in connection to the agreement with Danisa. Uhre initiated the contact with Danisa and the agreement was subsequently prepared and finalized between Badminton Association of Denmark’s sports manager and Danisa’s senior management.
Those players have tried hard to work with Badminton Association of Denmark on this issue, but the organization has not really been willing to find much common ground with the players. As the result of this, Chris Pedersen, Kamilla Rytter Juhl, Joachim Fischer, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen will not be playing for Denmark in the upcoming Sudirman Cup that starts on May 10.
BadmintonPlanet.com’s note to Badminton Association of Denmark:
Chris Pedersen, Kamilla Rytter Juhl, Joachim Fischer, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen have played a significant role in establishing Denmark’s dominance in world badminton. They have trained hard and sacrificed a lot in order to bring honor to their country. Please don’t tell me you didn’t already know that these players have existing endorsement deals with Kjeldsens prior to you signing with Danisa. It is extremely irresponsible and shortsighted to expel these players from the national team based on your own selfish financial decision. Please work out a solution to this problem, and we would like to see these players to play for their country again, please!
