Jakarta: Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari are carrying renewed confidence ahead of 2015 BWF World Championships which be held in Jakarta from 10 to 16 August 2015, as the Indonesians having enjoyed a particularly upbeat straight-sets victory over Chinese pair Luo Yu/Luo Ying in the Chinese Taipei Open women’s doubles final last Sunday.
“The Chinese Taipei Open was a good warm up ahead of the World Championships,” said Greysia.
Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari who currently ranked No. 5 in the world, however, will face daunting challenge in the world meet as some of the best women’s doubles pairs in the world, such as world No. 1 Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi of Japan, world No. 2 and No. 3 Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang, Luo Ying/Luo Yu of China, and world No. 4 Kamilla Rytter Juhl/Christinna Pedersen are standing in the way of their quest for the world title.
“We are at home now to keep improving and working on our game and to get ready for the world championships,” added Greysia.
The chairman of Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) Gita Wirjawan was also impressed upon the recent success Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari had achieved. Wirjawan tweeted on his official Twitter account encouraging the pair to continue their upward momentum at some of the upcoming tournaments such as World Championships, the Dubai World Superseries Finals (at the end of 2015), and of course, the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari took part at last year’s World Championships in Copenhagen, in which they lost to Reika Kakiiwa/Miyuki Maeda of Japan in the women’s doubles quarter-finals.
