Kuala Lumpur: Despite the absence of their top men’s singles player Lee Hyun Il, the best team in Malaysia Purple League – Muar City extended their winning streak to 6-0 after beating Kajang 15-2 on Saturday.
Fikri Hadmadi gave Muar City a good 3-0 start after he beat Nopparut Hiripongsathorn 11-5, 11-6, 11-6 in the first men’s singles match.
Kim Mun Hee then won the women’s singles match against Boon Wei Ying of Kajang 11-5, 11-7, 11-0. And you are right, there’s nothing wrong with your eyes, Kim did win the third set with 11-0.
The mixed doubles match was also a one sided affair, with Han Sang-hoon/Lee Hyo Jung of Muar City got the better of Chan Wan Ran/Nur Akmal Bin Mohamed Rumsani with 3-0.
Even though Tan Bin Shen/Tan Boon Heong lost two sets in the men’s doubles match, but they have rebounded just in time to give Muar City a 12-2 lead before Tan Chun Seang clinched the tie in Muar City’s favor with a 3-0 victory in the second men’s singles match.
After Saturday’s victory, Muar City were leading the Purple League with the best set difference of +71, Petaling BC came in second with +24 set difference, and Puchong United was ranked third with +23.
In other ties on Saturday, Petaling BC defeated Bangsar Hawks BC 13-3 and Son Wan Ho led Puchong United BC to dismiss Nusajaya BC 13-8.
