Kuala Lumpur: Badminton World Federation (BWF) council member Lawrence Chew was appointed Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager effective tomorrow.
BAM deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said Lawrence Chew, a Malaysian citizen who has been living in Switzerland for 30 years, would take over from Kenny Goh who would join the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC).
“Yes, Lawrence Chew will replace Kenny. He is the Swiss Badminton Association operations officer. We have got the approval from the BAM executive committee chaired by acting president Tan Sri Al Amin Abdul Majid,” he told Bernama when contacted.
Mohamad Norza said Lawrence Chew, interviewed by a five member panel including himself, would be the perfect person to bring about professionalism and strong management qualities in BAM and help BAM technical director, Morten Frost Hansen.
Kenny Goh, 49, who joined BAM in early 2007 decided to leave the association last month and take up the post of Badminton Asia Confederation general manager which fell vacant after the BAC had sacked its assistant general manager, ST Arasu from Malaysia.
