Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan reported back to the Indonesia badminton team in January 2016, and have since been practicing with the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI).

“The Thailand Masters-level Gold Grand Prix will serve as a warm-up tournament for Hendra / Ahsan, as both cannot afford long absence from international tournament altogether. They have to play at least one tournament per month,” said Herry Iman Pierngadi, head coach of the men’s doubles in PBSI.

Meanwhile, two other Indonesian men’s pairs Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi and Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira/Ade Yusuf were forced to withdraw from the Thailand GPG.

“Angga/Ricky have to focus on the Thomas Cup qualifiers to be held in Hyderabad, India from Feb. 15 to Feb. 22. Furthermore, Angga just recovered from dengue fever, he is not 100 percent yet. Wahyu/Ade cancelled their trip to Thailand because Ade has not been feeling well,” added Herry.

In women’s singles, Hanna Ramadini will skip Thailand GPG, because she has been named to replace Gregoria Mariska in the Uber Cup Qualifying squad due to Mariska still recovering from dengue fever.

In mixed doubles pair, Indonesia is hoping Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto could make the podium.

The Indonesian team will leave for Bangkok on Saturday, the Thailand GPG will start with the qualifiers on Monday (08/02/2016) morning.
