Prior to the start of finals, Badminton Scotland President Dan Travers acknowledged Bankier’s contributions to the badminton in Scotland by presenting a glass rock tablet to her.

In the finals, Imogen Bankier and Robert Blair won their opening game against Martin Campbell and Julie MacPherson 21-11. However Bankier/Blair fell 10-4 behind in the second set before storming back to clinch the second set 21-16.

“I stopped playing in January or February last year but didn’t want to discuss about my retirement then. I wanted to be sure. Another Nationals meant I would be able to play one last time in front of my family and the people who have helped me so much in my career,” said Bankier.

Sunday was also good day for Robert Blair as he finished with two Scottish titles, winning the mixed doubles title with Imogen Bankier, while clinching his first men’s doubles title with Adam Hall.
