Kazan: Denmark’s World No. 3 men’s doubles player Carsten Mogensen who is recovering from a life-threatening illnesses where he underwent brain surgery to treat the rupture of an aortic aneurysm in his brain last week in Kazan, may be able to travel back to Denmark next week.As long as Carsten Mogensen (L) is healthy, that is all that matters; and we want to see him and Mathias Boe (R) show us their "Gangnam Style" again.

Carsten Mogensen is making a strong recovery after that major surgery, and according to a latest post from his men’s doubles partner Mathias Boe on their Facebook page, Boe said: “Latest news from Kazan, is that Carsten are slowly recovering. He is doing average of normal, so the doctors had hoped for more progress. He is eating and drinking much more now, still very little compared to a normal person, however he is building his appetite. He still like his naps, so everything is as normal :-).. We are working on sending a plane which should be able to bring him home in the middle or end of next week. I know it will mean a lot to him to get back home, and I´m quite sure it will help on his recovery, if he can be in his on house. We are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Carsten Mogensen fell in his hotel room in Kazan Thursday while playing for Denmark at the European Team Badminton Championships. Mathias Boe was the first person to witness Mogensen suffering conscious pain and acted quickly in calling the ambulance.

Carsten Mogensen’s family is currently staying by his side in Kazan.
