Beijing: The London Olympics women’s singles gold medalist Li Xuerui who suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in the women’s singles semi-finals in Rio Olympics, had gone through a successful surgery on August 29th.
Li Xuerui was taken to Germany for her ACL treatment straight from Rio de Janeiro. Her mom was by her side through her ordeal to provide support and to take care of her.
“This is the first time in more than a decade that I am able to stay with my mom for such a long time,” said Li Xuerui.
The former World No. 1 is now able to hobble and walk with crutches. She is expected to face at least 3-6 months of physical rehabilitation before she can get back to the badminton court.
