Balikpapan: Malaysian men’s doubles qualifiers Chooi Kah Ming-Low Juan Shen continued their excellent run at the Indonesia Masters by overcoming Indonesia’s Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto-Afiat Yuris Wirawan 21-15, 16-21, 21-13 in the men’s doubles second round.
Chooi Kah Ming and Low Juan Shen became Malaysia’s sole men’s doubles representatives in the quarter-finals, and will battle No. 4 seeds Hardianto Hardianto-Kenas Adi Haryanto of Indonesia on Friday.
“We lost our focus a in the second set, but overall, we’ve played a solid match,” said Low Juan Shen.
“We will play a higher ranked pair tomorrow, but I think the pressure is on them.”
“We have reached our target, and right now is all about giving our best to try to do better.”
Meanwhile, former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) shuttlers Lim Khim Wah/Ong Jian Guo were shown exit by Hardianto Hardianto-Kenas Adi Haryanto, losing 13-21, 15-21 in the second round.
Another BAM men’s pair Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi also failed to advance into the quarter finals after going down to Indonesia’s Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 12-21, 15-21.
