Cyberjaya: With the way Kenichi Tago was booming in his smashes and was moving like he did in 2014 in the Purple League tie between Petaling BC and Klang City BC on Wednesday, he clearly showed greater appreciation for a second chance to get his badminton career back on track after receiving an indefinite suspension by the Nippon Badminton Association for gambling at illegal casinos in Japan in April.
Tago was all fired-up when he needed only 24 minutes to dispatch Muhd Umar Al-Qhatab of Klang City BC to give Petaling BC a 3-0 lead.
Continuing Tago’s winning momentum, Hera Desiana Rachmawati broke Klang City’s women’s singles player 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 to provide Petaling with a 6-0 advantage.
Chen Tang Jie/Man Wei Chong handed Petaling an unassailable 9-1 lead by overcoming Ong Jian Guo/Tan Swee Seng of Klang City 11-7, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6.
Petaling’s Agripinna Prima Ramanto/Devi Tika Permatasari and Daren Liew wrapped up the tie with both winning 3-1 against their opponents in the mixed doubles and men’s doubles categories respectively.
In other results, the No. 1 team in the Purple League – Petaling Jaya BC were handed their first loss of the season against the No. 2 team in the league – Puchong United BC, falling 9-11.
