Kuala Lumpur: World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei who tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee last Saturday during a training session after falling on a slippery mat at the newly built Academy Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara, was reportedly able to resume normal training early next week.
Malaysian media revealed that after few days of rehabilitation treatment, he made a faster than expected recovery on his left knee. Lee already started some light jogging, and will try to assess his condition as early as next Monday.
Speaking about his spat with Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost, Lee said he already met with BAM president Tan Sri Mohd Al-Amin Abdul Majid, and is now waiting for decision from BAM.
Meanwhile, Morten Frost told Malaysian media that he wished that the conflicts between him and Lee Chong Wei had never happened.
“I was hired by BAM, and I’ve discussed this with them. I do not want to make any public comments about this right now,” said Frost.
Frost met with acting BAM President Tan Sri Mohamed Al-Amin Abd Majid, BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai and general manager Lawrence Chew to go through the matter.
“I’ve told them my side of story, and hope they’ll be able to come up with a solution,” said Frost.
Frost has been a very controversial figure in Malaysian Badminton. During his first stint as the Malaysian badminton head coach in late 90’s, he suspended Rashid Sidek, Roslin Hashim and Ismail Saman and coach Misbun Sidek that belonged to the Nusa Mahsuri badminton club for skipping the Commonwealth Games centralized training in July 1998.
The former 4-time All England winner Morten Frost (1982, 1984, 1986, 1987) also rejected Lee Chong Wei’s request for a sparring partner during the 2015 Japan Open and 2015 Korea Open.
