Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Bow Out After Three Games

Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin came close to giving Malaysia a second men’s doubles semifinalist, but China’s second seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang recovered from a game down to end their run.

The Malaysian sixth seeds made the stronger start and took the opening game 21-18.

Liang and Wang responded by winning the second 21-18, sending the quarterfinal into a deciding game. The Chinese pair then completed the comeback 21-15 to advance with an 18-21, 21-18, 21-15 victory.

Liang and Wang will meet Indonesia’s third seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the semifinals.

Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Shohibul Fikri Advance in Straight Games

Fajar and Fikri secured their semifinal place by defeating Thailand’s Peeratchai Sukphun and Pakkapon TeeraratSakul 21-17, 21-16.

The Indonesian third seeds controlled both games closely enough to avoid a decider and will now take on Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang in an Indonesia-China semifinal.

Victor Lai Comes From Behind to Reach Men’s Singles Semifinals

Canada’s eighth seed Victor Lai produced the only three-game victory among the completed men’s singles quarterfinals shown in the draw.

Lai will next face France’s seventh seed Alex Lanier, who advanced with a convincing 21-16, 21-12 victory over third seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.
