Iksan, Korea — Singapore’s Jason Teh Jia Heng rediscovered his winning touch at the IKSAN VICTOR Korea Masters 2025, defeating Japan’s Yudai Okimoto in straight games to claim his second BWF World Tour Super 300 title.

Watch Highlights of Jason Teh vs. Yudai Okimoto in the Korea Masters final:

Teh, who had last lifted a trophy at the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters in February, ended months of frustration with a confident 21–14, 21–15 victory on Sunday. The Singaporean world No. 41 looked sharp and in control throughout the 42-minute contest against Okimoto, who was chasing his maiden World Tour title.

Bouncing Back After Months of Struggle

Since his breakthrough earlier this year, Teh had endured a rough patch — crashing out in the early rounds of 16 of his last 17 tournaments. He admitted that his early-season success may have led him to lose focus.

“After the German Open I’ve been losing a lot. I learnt a lot from those defeats and am very happy to win again, and thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way,” said Teh after the match.

“Training plays an important part. In January everything was smooth for me. I won a Super 300, and I thought it would just continue like that, but there was so much more to learn. Those losses helped me grow and play better again.”

Teh added that he stayed patient during the final, adjusting to Okimoto’s defensive style:

“Today I played fine. He’s a good runner, but his attack is not that threatening. So under pressure I played more to the back,” he explained.

Looking ahead, Teh remains focused on maintaining form and consistency:

“Of course I will aim for a higher level, but I still need to learn a lot and be more consistent. There’s still a long way to go.”

Women’s Singles and Doubles Action

In the women’s singles final, Taiwan’s Chiu Pin-Chian captured her first BWF Super 300 title, overcoming Vietnam’s Thuy Linh Nguyen 21–16, 21–15.

Meanwhile, Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Kim So Yeong ended her career on home soil. Partnering Lee Seo Jin, Kim came close but fell short against Japan’s Hinata Suzuki/Nao Yamakita 21–18, 25–23.

“It’s my last match. I could reach the final with Seo Jin because she was a good partner,” Kim said afterward. “Even though I lost, I feel if I could have won I’d be happier — but it doesn’t matter. I have no regrets.”

“I’m happy because I could play my final match in Korea as a national player, and with Seo Jin who’s from the same club. I’d like to thank her and everyone else.”

Suzuki and Yamakita, ranked world No. 60, celebrated the biggest triumph of their careers, adding the Korea Masters title to their runner-up finish at the Victor Kaohsiung Masters (Super 100) earlier this season.

Home Glory for Korean Doubles

Korea dominated the remaining doubles categories.

  • Lee Jong Min/Wang Chan lifted the men’s doubles trophy.

  • Kim Jae Hyeon/Jeong Na Eun emerged as mixed doubles champions.

Both pairings, newly formed this year, secured their first international titles together — a promising sign for Korea’s next generation of badminton talent.

With his triumph in Iksan, Jason Teh not only ended his eight-month title drought but also reignited hope for Singapore badminton fans eagerly awaiting another consistent world-class contender on the men’s singles stage.
