
Seoul: Malaysia’s world no. 10 men’s singles player, Lee Zii Jia, sacrificed his Chinese New Year holiday to train with members of the South Korean badminton national team, aiming to regain his best form for the upcoming Badminton Asia Team Championships which will be held from February 13 to 19 in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Lee Zii Jia shared a video on his personal social media accounts, showcasing his training in Korea under the guidance of coach Wong Tat Meng. The video featured South Korean players, including men’s doubles and mixed doubles world champion Seo Seung Jae and men’s singles world no. 55 Jeon Hyeok-jin.
In the 2024 Asian Badminton Team Championships, the Malaysian badminton team, led by Lee Zii Jia in men’s singles and former world champions Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in men’s doubles, aims to defend the men’s team title Malaysia won in 2022, where they beat Indonesia 3-0.
The tournament is serving as the Asian qualifiers for the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup in Chengdu, China from April 28 to May 5, 2024.
