Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Lee Zii Jia and his family have reached an amicable settlement in their legal dispute over the finances and management of LZJ Management Sdn Bhd, bringing a significant off-court issue involving the Malaysian badminton star closer to resolution.

The agreement was reached on Tuesday, October 20, following mediation conducted in chambers at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Justice Leong Wai Hong formally recorded the terms as a consent judgment after the parties agreed to the settlement.

Lee Zii Jia and Family Reach Agreement After Mediation

Lee arrived at the High Court on Tuesday morning accompanied by his lawyers, wearing a white face mask and dressed in black for the mediation proceedings.

The 28-year-old professional badminton player, his father Lee Chee Hin and younger brother Lee Tao were personally present in court.

Lee’s sister, Lee Zii Yii, was not in attendance because she was overseas, but her lawyer confirmed that she had agreed to the settlement and consented to the terms being recorded in her absence.

After hearing the parties confirm their agreement, Justice Leong recorded the consent judgment.

The judge summed up the resolution by telling the parties that it was a positive outcome that would allow everyone to move forward.

LZJ Management to Hold EGM on October 31

One of the central terms of the settlement requires LZJ Management Sdn Bhd to hold an extraordinary general meeting on October 31, in accordance with a notice issued earlier in the month.

The company will bear the cost of holding the meeting.

The EGM is expected to provide a formal avenue for the shareholders to address the management and governance issues that had led to the High Court proceedings.

Restrictions Remain Until Extraordinary General Meeting

Until the extraordinary general meeting is completed, Lee Chee Hin and Lee Zii Yii are restricted from approving or receiving certain financial benefits from LZJ Management beyond their monthly salaries.

The restrictions cover directors’ fees, allowances, bonuses, rewards and other additional financial benefits.

They are also prevented from making or approving major decisions affecting the management, administration or control of the company without prior permission from the court.

Those decisions include matters involving the appointment or removal of directors, appointment of the company secretary, disposal of substantial assets, issuance of new shares and changes to the company’s shareholding structure.

Lee Zii Jia Filed High Court Application in July

The dispute became public after Lee filed an originating summons at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on July 2, 2026.

He named LZJ Management Sdn Bhd, his father Lee Chee Hin, his sister Lee Zii Yii and his younger brother Lee Tao as respondents.

Lee had sought court intervention after an earlier attempt to hold an extraordinary general meeting did not proceed, arguing that the company was facing a management and administrative deadlock.

He also sought interim restrictions involving certain financial payments and major corporate decisions while the case remained before the court.

Lee Zii Jia Holds 90 Percent of LZJ Management

According to the company shareholding structure cited in the proceedings, Lee Zii Jia is the majority shareholder of LZJ Management with a 90 percent stake.

Lee Zii Yii holds 9 percent, while Lee Tao owns the remaining 1 percent. Their father, Lee Chee Hin, serves as one of the company’s directors.

The dispute therefore involved not only family relationships but also the management structure of the company connected to Lee’s professional badminton career.

Court Settlement Brings Family Dispute Toward Resolution

Tuesday’s agreement marks a major change from the legal confrontation that became public earlier this month.

Rather than proceeding to a contested court hearing, the parties were able to reach common ground through mediation and agree on a structured process for dealing with the company’s outstanding governance issues.

The October 31 extraordinary general meeting will now become the next important step for LZJ Management.

Lee Zii Jia Can Turn Attention Back to Badminton

For Malaysian badminton, the settlement could also help remove a significant off-court distraction surrounding one of the country’s leading men’s singles players.

Lee has continued competing internationally while the legal process unfolded, and his recent performances have shown signs of improvement as he works to rebuild his position in the world rankings.

With the family dispute now resolved through mediation and the company set to address its remaining management matters through the upcoming EGM, Lee can move forward with greater clarity as he continues the next phase of his badminton career.
