Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s independent men’s singles player, Lee Zii Jia, has climbed to 4th place in the latest BWF world rankings, marking his return to the top five for the first time since April 2023.

Malaysia’s men’s singles player, such as Ng Tze Yong, who applied for protected ranking due to injury, is currently ranked 21st. Another men’s singles player, Leong Jun Hao, dropped two positions to 29th, while rising star Justin Hoh, who recently won the Malaysia Games title in Sarawak, moved up one spot to 67th.

The top three in men’s singles are China’s Shi Yuqi, Denmark’s two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen, and Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie.

France’s 19-year-old rising star Alex Lanier, who claimed the men’s singles title at last week’s Japan Open, soared nine spots to reach world No. 20, overtaking Christo Popov (ranked 27th) to become France’s second-highest-ranked men’s singles player. Lanier now trails only France’s top player, Toma Junior Popov, by one position.

In women’s singles, the top five are led by South Korea’s Paris Olympic gold medalist An Se-Young, followed by China’s Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Chen Yufei, Taiwan’s former world No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying, Spain’s former world No. 1 Carolina Marin, and Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, who won her fourth Japan Open title last week.

Malaysia’s top women’s singles player, Goh Jin Wei, saw her ranking rise slightly to 31st this week.

In men’s doubles, despite recently winning the men’s doubles title at the Japan Open, Malaysia’s independent pair Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin remains at 12th in the rankings.

Malaysia’s two-time Olympic men’s doubles bronze medalists Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik maintain their position at world No. 3.

China’s Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang and Denmark’s Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen are still the world’s top two pairs in men’s doubles.

Leti Duo Moves Up to 9th

The Malaysian women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan and the mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei are both ranked World No. 9.

In mixed doubles, China continues to dominate, with Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping, and Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin occupying the top three positions.

China’s women’s doubles champions from the Paris Olympics, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan and Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning hold the first and third spots respectively, while Korea’s Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee are ranked second.
