Bangkok: Malaysia’s World No. 10 Lee Zii Jia, received a confidence boost ahead of the Paris Olympics by clinching his first title of the season on Sunday.
Lee Zii Jia, who is preparing for the Paris Olympics, secured his first title at the Thailand Open after defeating Hong Kong’s World No. 27, Angus Ng Ka Long, 21-11, 21-10 in the Thailand Open final in 34 minutes.

The score was close at the beginning of the first game before the 26-year-old Lee started to pull ahead after 7-7, eventually winning 21-11 in 15 minutes.
The second game was one-sided as Lee wrapped up the game without any problems in 19 minutes.
The Thailand Open 2024 title won by Lee Zii Jia will probably serve as a confidence booster for him to do well at the 2024 Malaysia Masters, scheduled to take place at Axiata Arena this coming Tuesday.
“This (Thailand title) will boost my confidence. The next tournament is on home ground, so I hope to maintain this momentum and confidence,” said Lee Zii Jia after the match.
“I think this is my best performance so far, especially for this season. From the first round to the final, the competition was quite tough, and this title certainly means a lot to me,” added Lee.
In men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty of India outlasted Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi 21-15, 21-15 to claim the Thailand Open title.
The hosts, Thailand also ended up winning the women’s singles title through Supanida Katethong and the women’s doubles title via Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai.
However, the home favorites and mixed doubles first seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai fell short in the final when they lost to No. 5 seeds Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui of China 21-12, 12-21, 18-21.
