BIRMINGHAM – The latest badminton news from the 2026 All England Championships saw Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun-yi capture the biggest title of his career, while Korea’s Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae successfully defended the men’s doubles crown at the historic tournament.

Lin Chun-yi Makes History in All England Men’s Singles

Lin Chun-yi delivered a composed and clinical performance to defeat India’s Lakshya Sen 21-15, 22-20 in the men’s singles final, becoming the first player from Chinese Taipei to win the All England men’s singles title.

The world No.11 entered the tournament in strong form and continued his impressive run throughout the week. In the semi-finals, he overcame Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in a hard-fought three-game battle to reach the championship match.

Facing Lakshya Sen in the final, Lin carried a perfect 4-0 head-to-head record against the Indian star, but the match proved far from straightforward.

Lin made a fast start in the opening game, jumping to a 6-2 lead. Although Sen briefly narrowed the gap after capitalizing on several unforced errors, Lin regained control after the interval with a series of powerful smashes and precise net play. He closed out the first game 21-15.

The second game developed into a tense contest. Sen surged ahead to lead 9-4 and entered the mid-game interval with momentum. Lin, however, remained patient and gradually worked his way back into the rally exchanges.

Trailing 16-18, Lin produced a decisive three-point run to take the lead. Sen managed to level the score at 19-19 and later saved one championship point to force deuce. But Lin stayed calm under pressure and sealed the title 22-20 after a crucial attacking rally forced Sen into an error.

The victory marks a historic milestone for Chinese Taipei badminton, adding to the country’s growing list of achievements at the prestigious All England tournament.
