KUALA LUMPUR, May 2025 — History will be made at the Malaysia Masters 2025 as Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun both stormed into the final, securing the men’s doubles crown for Malaysia for the first time since 2013.
This marks the first-ever all-Malaysian final at the Super 500 tournament, promising a thrilling showdown at Axiata Arena on Sunday.
Aaron/Wooi Yik Edge Olympic Rivals in Semis
Fresh off their Thailand Open title, world No. 3 duo Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik continued their impressive form, defeating world No. 1s Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in a gripping semi-final:
Score: 21-19, 17-21, 21-15 (64 minutes)
“It’s not about winning or losing tomorrow,” joked Aaron, “it’ll feel like a training match—but what matters is that Malaysia will take home the title.”
This will be their first final appearance at the Malaysia Masters and a chance to claim their second straight title on the BWF World Tour 2025.
Wei Chong/Kai Wun End Japan Jinx to Reach Final
Earlier, Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun secured a dominant 21-12, 21-14 victory over Japan’s Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, avenging previous losses at the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships and 2022 All England Open.
The world No. 8 duo, who also won the 2025 Indonesia Masters, are eyeing their second title of the season.
“We’re happy with our performance, but we must stay focused for the final,” said Wei Chong.
Head-to-Head: Tied at 2-2
This will be the fifth meeting between the two Malaysian pairs, with the head-to-head currently tied at 2-2. Their last clash came in the 2025 Indonesia Masters semi-finals, where Wei Chong/Kai Wun won in straight sets.
Both pairs are hungry for the title, but for fans, this clash is a celebration of Malaysia’s growing dominance in men’s doubles.
