ORLÉANS — It was a challenging day for Malaysia at the 2026 Orléans Masters, with multiple players exiting in the second round despite putting up strong resistance against higher-ranked opponents.

The spotlight fell on men’s doubles pair Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing, along with rising singles player Justin Hoh, as both campaigns came to an end in tightly contested matches.

Aaron Tai / Kang Khai Xing Exit After Straight-Games Loss

Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing were unable to progress after falling to Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjaer / Rasmus Kjaer in the second round.

The Malaysians fought hard but were outplayed in key moments, going down 17-21, 13-21 in straight games.

Despite the loss, the pair showed flashes of attacking quality, particularly in the opening game, but struggled to maintain consistency against the well-structured Danish duo.

Justin Hoh Falls Agonizingly Short in Three-Game Battle

In men’s singles, Justin Hoh came within touching distance of a major upset before losing to Chinese Taipei’s Su Li Yang.

Hoh took the first game confidently but eventually fell 21-16, 17-21, 20-22 in a thrilling three-game encounter.

The Malaysian youngster held match points in the deciding game but was unable to convert, with Su Li Yang edging the closing stages to advance.

The performance, however, reinforces Hoh’s growing reputation as one of Malaysia’s most promising singles players.

Wong Ling Ching Falls to Malvika Bansod

Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching also exited the tournament after a straight-games defeat to India’s Malvika Bansod.

In a competitive match, Wong was edged out 22-24, 13-21, narrowly losing the opening game before fading in the second.

The defeat highlights the fine margins at this level, with Wong showing she can compete but needing greater consistency to close out tight games.

Carmen Ting / Ong Xin Yee Lose Heartbreaker

In women’s doubles, Malaysia’s Carmen Ting and Ong Xin Yee were involved in one of the closest matches of the round.

The pair pushed American duo Lauren Lam / Allison Lee to the limit before falling 23-21, 18-21, 20-22 in a dramatic three-game battle.

After taking the first game, the Malaysians fought hard throughout but were edged out in a nail-biting decider.

The narrow defeat is a tough result, but it also demonstrates their ability to challenge established international pairs.
