In the men’s singles match, World No. 2 Shi Yuqi demonstrated his calmness at crucial moments, securing the Singapore Open title by defeating World No. 6 and his teammate Li Shifeng 2-1 in a 1 hour and 27 minutes battle.

Highlights of Shi Yuqi vs. Li Shifeng in the final of the 2024 Singapore Open:

In the first game, Li Shifeng showcased excellent form, moving quickly and playing aggressively. Shi Yuqi seemed heavy-footed and couldn’t keep up with Li. Taking advantage of this, Li won the first game 21-17.

The second game saw a more intense competition, with Shi Yuqi maintaining a slight lead throughout. By combining steady play with controlled shots, Shi was taking control of most of the game. In the crucial stages, Shi leveraged his experience to win the game 21-19, tying the match 1-1.

In the decisive third game, Shi Yuqi initially fell behind by 5-12, as Li Shifeng used his stamina and aggressive attacks to dominate. After switching sides, Shi reduced net play and focused on aggressive attacks, quickly leveling the score at 15-15. The end of the decider was especially intense, Shi was trailing 16-19, but he ended the game with a 5-0 run. Ultimately, Shi’s active movements helped him come from behind to win 21-19.

In the last match of the day, the men’s doubles, World No. 10 He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu triumphed over the World No. 7 Indonesian pair Alfian/Ardianto with a 21-19, 21-14 victory. Their fast, aggressive, and proactive play was key to their victory.
