Kaohsiung, Taiwan – In an emotional and heartwarming appearance, Tai Tzu Ying, Taiwan’s legendary badminton queen, made her return to the court during the Red Bull 3v3 Badminton event held at the Kaohsiung Arena—her first public match since stepping away from the sport due to injury in September 2023.

Playing alongside popular a Taiwanese YouTuber, Lu Ming-Che – a local doubles champion, Tai Tzu Ying thrilled fans in a lively 3-set exhibition match that showcased her signature finesse and tactical brilliance. The crowd’s passionate chants of “Tai Tzu Ying, I love you!” and “We miss you!” filled the arena.

The 31-year-old star—affectionately known as the “Magician of Badminton”—has undergone surgeries on both knees since last year. Doctors had advised against any intense movements, with strict instructions to limit her mobility on court.

Tai humorously admitted, “They told me only one step allowed on court. But I think… I might’ve taken a few more.”

She revealed that what truly pushed her to step back onto the court was the unwavering support of her fans:

“So many people stayed just to see me… I had to play.”

Love and Legacy

At the event’s close, fans shouted declarations of love and support. “Tai Tzu Ying, I love you!” and “We miss you so much!” echoed through the dome, marking the end of a deeply touching moment for both the fans and the player.

Despite stepping back from international competition, Tai Tzu Ying’s name still resonates across the global badminton community. However, it’s worth noting that in the latest BWF World Rankings, her BWF world ranking points have officially reset to zero, symbolizing a new chapter ahead.

What’s Next?

Whether this appearance signals a potential comeback or simply a farewell moment of gratitude, one thing is clear: Tai Tzu Ying is still cherished deeply by badminton fans worldwide.

As the sport evolves and new stars rise, the legacy of Tai Tzu Ying continues to inspire a generation—on and off the court.
