Jung Jae-sung and Lee Yong-dae brought South Korea a lone gold medal in the men's double of the Yonex Korea Badminton Open, where China dominated the competition.

Facing unexpected finalists Hwang Ji-man and Lee Jae-jin of South Korea, who ranked 30th in the world, in the final, the world's No. 5 South Korean duo out-dueled their compatriots with Jung's power smashing and Lee's smart net play, closing the game 21-16, 21-15 in 30 minutes to capture the trophy.

``When we gave up the Malaysia Open due to Yong-dae's ankle injury, we were really frustrated but as we won a gold medal at home, I am really happy,'' said Jung after the match.

Jung and Lee won a prize of 20 million won (,600).

Jung, who won silver in the men's team event and bronze in the men's double at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, teamed up with Lee in January last year and they, who belong to Samsung Electro-Mechanics, claimed gold medals at the Germany Open and the Thailand Open last year.

The gold medal gave South Korea a hope for gold in the Beijing Olympics next year.

South Korean badminton has struggled since the Athens Olympics in 2004 and at last year's Korea Open, they failed to pick up a gold medal first time.
