Beijing: China’s World No. 9 men’s singles player Shi Yuqi who suffered an ankle injury on Day 3 of the 2019 Indonesia Open in July of 2019, said that the postponed Tokyo Olympics could be a blessing in disguise for him, giving him enough time to recover from the injury.
“For me, the postponement of the Olympic Games has given me enough time to recover from injuries, strengthening my physical fitness and improving my strength,” said Shi.

On July 1, the Chinese badminton national team held a physical fitness competition among all Chinese shuttlers, to assess the training outcomes of all shuttlers.
Affected by the coronavirus outbreak, the Chinese Badminton Association has been conducting closed-door training at the Chengdu Shuangliu Training Center after coming back from the All England tournament in March. During the closed-door training period, the whole Chinese national badminton team was focusing on strengthening physical fitness and making up for any shortcomings.

Through the training, it’s clear that the physical ability of the Chinese players has been improved.
