ORLÉANS — Malaysia’s challenge at the 2026 Orléans Masters got off to a solid start, spearheaded by men’s doubles pair Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing, who advanced confidently into the second round.

The pair set the tone early for Malaysia, with several other players, including Justin Hoh and Wong Ling Ching, also delivering encouraging performances in this BWF World Tour Super 300 event.

Aaron Tai / Kang Khai Xing Deliver Composed Win

Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing opened their campaign with a convincing straight-game victory over Rodion Alimov / Maksim Ogloblin.

The Malaysian duo controlled the match with aggressive attacking play and solid defensive structure, winning 21-11, 21-17 to secure their place in the next round.

They will now face Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjaer / Rasmus Kjaer, in what promises to be a more demanding test as they look to build momentum in the tournament.

Their performance reflects growing chemistry and confidence, as the pair continue to establish themselves on the international badminton circuit.

Justin Hoh Shows Nerve in Three-Game Battle

In men’s singles, Justin Hoh produced one of the most dramatic matches of the day, overcoming Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen in a tense three-game encounter.

Hoh took the opening game comfortably at 21-9, but was pushed to the limit before closing out the match 21-9, 14-21, 24-22.

The narrow victory highlighted his composure under pressure, particularly in the deciding stages where every point proved crucial.

He will next face Su Li Yang, a seasoned opponent who will test his ability to sustain this level of performance.

Wong Ling Ching Secures Impressive Upset

Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching delivered a standout result in the women’s singles event, defeating eighth seed Zhang Beiwen in a tightly contested match.

After splitting the first two games, Wong held her nerve in a dramatic decider to win 21-19, 13-21, 23-21.

Her victory marks one of Malaysia’s most notable results of the opening round and sets up a challenging next match against India’s Malvika Bansod.

Carmen Ting Advances in Women’s Doubles

Malaysia’s Ong Xin Yee and Carmen Ting also progressed after a dominant display against France’s Emmy Guilbard / Anouk Nambot.

The Malaysian pair controlled the match from start to finish, recording a comfortable 21-7, 21-10 victory.

They will now take on American duo Lauren Lam / Allison Lee in the next round.
