Kuala Lumpur: After winning the Polish Open on Saturday, Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying will be traveling to Orleans, France in preparation for the 2015 Orleans International that will be held from March 26 to March 29, 2015.

Malaysia’s doubles coach Jeremy Gan told reporter that he was happy with how the pair played in the Polish Open.Daren Liew, Goh Liu Ying, and Chan Peng Soon after winning the Polish Open(photo:Lim Joe Heang)

“The Polish Open was a morale-boosting win to get Peng Soon/Liu Ying back on track again, especially after a long layoff,” said Jeremy.

“Hopefully their momentum will be continued at the Orleans International. If they fare better than expected, we will send them to some much competitive tournaments,” added Jeremy.

The pair will play in the Singapore Open from April 7 to April 12 and the China Masters that starts from April 14 to April 19.

Malaysian men’s singles player Daren Liew who came under fire for his lackluster performance since winning the French Open 2012, managed to dig himself out of the hole (sort of) by winning the Polish Open title on Saturday.

Despite the fact that the Polish Open was a small tournament, Daren strived to excel in future tournaments.

“I failed many times in the last few years, but I kept working hard trying to turn things around,” said Daren.

“I was not good in handling pressure, but I am getting better now. Hopefully I can continue this success in future matches,” added Daren.

There are some players who know from an early age that they are destined to shine at very young, but there are also some players that blossom late. Former Malaysian men’s singles player Foo Kok Keong won his first ever international title – 1990 Singapore Open at the age of 27. Let’s hope Daren Liew’s Polish Open title could be a “turning point” for him, and he could keep improving his skills and become a better and a more consistent player.
