Kuala Lumpur: After a two-week recess, the Malaysia Purple League will resume on Tuesday where two ties will be on the menu. Several Purple League teams have also beefed up their rosters during the break in order to build a competitive team.
Muar City BC, the team with the best winning percentage or set differential in Purple League has decided to field World No. 1 men’s doubles player Lee Yong-Dae in their tie against Nusajaya BC on Tuesday. Lee will partner with former World No. 1 men’s doubles player Tan Boon Heong to take on Teo Kok Siang/Hoon Thien How from Nusajaya.
Muar City had actually signed Lee Yong-Dae during the 2014/2015 season, but due to contractual issues Lee had to sit out all of last season.
The World No. 11 men’s singles Tommy Sugiarto will be another prominent player to represent Muar City in the tie. He will clash with Goh Soon Huat in the second men’s singles match.
Meanwhile, No. 2 team in the league Cheras BC has also added the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Hwang Ji-man of Korea and currently World No. 11 women’s doubles player Vivian Hoo to bolster its roster depth.
In addition to the star-studded lineup who’ll be bringing the fans all kinds of excitement throughout the games, Purple League will also offer free admission to fans who wear purple shirt to the event from December 22, 2015 to January 7, 2016. However, those free seating are limited and subject to availability.
