Thailand’s badminton player fails drug test

Bangkok: As rumors swirl around the Thailand badminton community upon some unconfirmed reports, a high profile badminton star from Thailand had failed a drug test conducted after the completion of the 2016 Asian Badminton Championships in China last April.The badminton community should let the truth unveil itself, and should not jump to the conclusion too quickly.

According to the unconfirmed sources, banned substances were present in the player’s urine sample, if the validity of the test was confirmed, the athlete will be left out of the Rio Olympics.

According to deputy secretary general of the Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) – Thanuch Assawanapakas, the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA have yet to inform the BAT about this and BAT have to wait for the WADA’s confirmation before they can tell the public about the whole incident. As for now, the player involved is working very hard in preparation for next month’s Olympic Games what will be held in Rio de Janeiro.

The Thai’s team doctor from Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) – Dr. Meechai Inwood told reporter that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) must first inform them that a positive substance was found before they can make the official confirmation. Dr. Inwood also said SAT has tested the substance but the result they got was negative.
