Lee Chong Wei and team Malaysia depart for World Championship in Glasgow

Kuala Lumpur: Family, friends and staff from Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) bid farewell to members of the Malaysian badminton squad before they left for the World Championship in Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday.

Accompanied by his wife – Wong Mew Choo, Malaysian badminton superstar Lee Chong Wei arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) early Wednesday morning. After completed his check in at the airport ticket counter, Lee patiently answered questions from the reporters.

“I’ve played and fell shot many times at World Championships, so this time, I am going to approach it like I have nothing to lose,” said Lee.

“Since we already know who I will play against in my half, the most important thing right now is to work with my two coaches to formulate some specific plans for those opponents,” added Lee.

Meanwhile, BAM’s president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria also urged other players such as Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong (men’s doubles) and Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles) to set stiff medals target for the World Championships.

Another Malaysian men’s doubles pair Low Juan Shen-Chooi Kah Ming had already left for Glasgow on Tuesday. The Malaysian team also consists of two other players, namely Tan Jia Wei and Chong Yee Han to serve as sparring partners for Lee Chong Wei.
