Beijing: China’s delegation to the 2017 World Badminton Championships on Thursday departed for the most prestigious badminton tournament of the year that will be staged at Emirates Arena from 21-27 August, in Glasgow, Scotland.

Powerhouse China have secured the maximum representation of four qualifiers in each of the five categories at 2017 BWF World Championships, and will be led by five-time World Champion Lin Dan. Lin was obviously the most popular players in the Chinese team as he found himself surrounded by fans and camera phones while waiting for his flight to Glasgow on Thursday.

The two-time Olympic champion and five-time World gold medalist went to Glasgow as one of the favorites to take the title. Lin also aimed to create history by becoming the first shuttler to ever win the World Championships sixth time.
