Super Dan, who has never won the men’s team event at the China National Games, got another shot at the trophy after he sealed his team’s first point by beating Zhejiang’s Guo Kai 17-21, 21-19, 21-11 in the first men’s singles match.
However, Wang Sijie/Zheng Siwei of Zhejiang beat Beijing’s Yu Xiaoyu/Qi ShuangShuang in the first men’s doubles match 21-10, 21-12 to level the score at 1-1.
Du Pengyu who has retired from the China national team in 2014 still has plenty left in the tank when he outlasted the current China national team player Huang Yuxiang in a contested battle 11-21, 21-18, 21-18 to put Beijing ahead with 2-1.

Facing an uphill task, Lu Guangzu of Jiangsu rallied to defeat Weng Hongyang of Fujian to pull back a point for his team.
Hong Wei/He Jiting made a statement for Fujian as they responded with an emphatic victory to seal the semi-final tie for Fujian by beating Zhang Sijie/Cai Ruiqing 21-14, 21-16 to send Fujian into the final.
